Cancel Cultr Privacy Policy
Cancel Cultr ("Cancel Cultr," "we," "us") helps you track when the TV shows you watch finish their seasons and reminds you to cancel or pause the streaming subscriptions you no longer need. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information — your email address, and, if you opt in to text alerts, your mobile phone number.
- Financial information (Autopilot users only) — if you connect a bank account through our provider Plaid, we receive read-only transaction data (merchant names, amounts, dates) used solely to detect recurring streaming charges. We never receive your bank login credentials, and we cannot move money.
- Usage information — the shows you track, subscriptions you add, and your responses to our reminders.
- Device information — a push-notification token and your time zone, used to deliver alerts at an appropriate local time.
How we use your information
- Detect your streaming subscriptions and their renewal dates.
- Track show air dates and season finales to time reminders.
- Send you notifications (push and, if opted in, SMS) about your subscriptions.
- Operate, secure, and improve the service.
SMS / Text messaging
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties.
If you opt in to text alerts, you will receive recurring automated text messages from Cancel Cultr about your own subscriptions (for example, renewal warnings and duplicate-charge alerts). Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel at any time, or HELP for help. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of using Cancel Cultr; you can also manage or disable text alerts in the app's Settings.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us run the app, and only as needed to provide it:
- Plaid — secure read-only bank transaction access.
- Twilio — delivery of SMS messages.
- Supabase — database and authentication.
- The Movie Database (TMDB) — show air-date and metadata lookups.
- Anthropic — generating notification copy (we do not send your financial account details for this purpose).
We may also disclose information if required by law.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, after which we delete your personal data except where retention is legally required.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit. Bank access tokens are stored server-side and are never exposed to the app.
Your choices
- Opt out of texts anytime by replying STOP or disabling text alerts in Settings.
- Disconnect a linked bank account in the app.
- Request deletion of your account and data by contacting us.
Children
Cancel Cultr is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
